Emerging wagering platform, AK Bets, has appointed Joe Lee to lead their Strategy and Performance division. Lee brings a wealth of experience from his six-year tenure at industry titan, Paddy Power Betfair.
Unfamiliar with AK Bets? Their journey began as an equine wagering operator, opening their doors in Killarney in July 2021. Despite a slight stumble on day one (a deficit of €1,172), they’ve maintained a strong pace, handling over 70,000 wagers in their inaugural year. Not satisfied with just a physical presence, they’ve recently ventured into the digital realm with a website and mobile application launched earlier this year.
Lee’s time at Paddy Power Betfair encompassed a variety of crucial roles, including Head of Product Management, Head of Trump Betting (indeed, you read correctly!), and Head of UK & Ireland. His impressive background also includes periods at other prominent names such as Sportsbet, Matchbook Betting Exchange, and One-Zero.
“The chance to re-enter the betting sphere as Head of Strategy and Performance for AK Bets is incredibly thrilling,” Lee remarked. “There’s a palpable energy in returning to a more agile setting and collaborating with such a skilled group. The sector has witnessed significant mergers recently, but there’s still ample space for innovators like AK Bets. I’m keen to utilize my expertise and contribute to the company’s achievements.”
Anthony Kaminskas, developing his expertise with Lee as a Senior Equine Wagering Risk Supervisor at Paddy Power, ultimately leading their Canine Racing department, has established his own enterprise – AK Bets.
