Allwyn is ecstatic to return for the 2024 Wings for Life World Run, a worldwide event occurring on May 5th! This extraordinary event directs all registration fees and contributions straight towards spinal cord injury studies.
As a global collaborator, Allwyn, the administrator of the UK National Lottery, is making every effort to champion this fantastic cause. They are raising awareness and gathering support to generate funds for innovative research and medical trials. The previous year’s run was a remarkable triumph, accumulating an impressive €43 million (equivalent to a staggering $45.8 million!) for spinal cord injury investigations.
What distinguishes the Wings for Life World Run is its welcoming atmosphere. It’s a global initiative, inviting individuals of all capabilities to partake. Whether you’re jogging, strolling, or using a wheelchair, everyone is joined in this shared objective.
Pavel Turek, Global Brand, Corporate Communication and CSR Director at Allwyn, aptly summarized the essence of the collaboration, remarking, “Allwyn is dedicated to fostering inclusivity and contributing to society, which aligns flawlessly with the mission of the Wings for Life World Run.” He continued, “We are honored to be the Official Global Partner of this one-of-a-kind and motivational event for the second year in a row.”
The allure of the Wings for Life World Run resides in its distinctive structure. There isn’t a predetermined finish line! Rather, half an hour after the race commences, a virtual ‘Catcher Car’ embarks, progressively accelerating. Your race concludes when the Catcher Car overtakes you. It’s an exhilarating competition against a worldwide moving finish line, connecting participants across the planet in an incredible demonstration of unity and backing.
Paralympics GB’s leader, Nick Webborn, stressed the significance of demonstrating integration in athletics as the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games approach. He underscored Paralympics GB’s objective: “To create a more equitable world for individuals with disabilities through the influence of athletics.” Webborn commended Allwyn, a corporate collaborator, stating, “Allwyn’s principles and the spirit of the Wings for Life World Run are in complete harmony with this goal, emphasizing the profound meaning of joining this event.” Allwyn is not only financially backing the event in Austria, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Greece, Cyprus, the United Kingdom, and the United States, but over 7,000 of their staff members will be actively engaged.
Mark Hermans, the head of the Wings for Life World Run, discussed the consequences of spinal cord trauma, remarking, “I’ve personally witnessed how spinal cord injuries can alter the trajectory of an individual’s existence.” He conveyed optimism that through the collective endeavors of Allwyn and global participants, they are nearing advancements in the lives of those impacted by spinal cord injuries.
In separate philanthropic gaming updates, the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) declared that their 2024 UK National Handicap Chase Day generated in excess of £15,000 (equivalent to $18,662.63) for worthy initiatives.
