A prominent iGaming software provider, SOFTSWISS, has secured a controlling interest in Turfsport, a top South African supplier of sports wagering and lottery platforms. This tactical maneuver considerably broadens SOFTSWISS’s presence within the burgeoning African market.

Turfsport possesses a strong product range, catering to over 40 operators in South Africa through its multi-channel platform for sports betting, equestrian racing, and lottery games. The firm handles an impressive 1.5 billion in wagers yearly across its client base.

Turfsport’s CEO, Christian Neuberger, conveyed his excitement regarding the collaboration, remarking that uniting with SOFTSWISS, an organization recognized for its agility and swift expansion, is the ideal impetus for Turfsport to expedite innovation and address the shifting demands of the iGaming sector.

This acquisition signifies a potent alliance, merging Turfsport’s extensive local knowledge with SOFTSWISS’s international expertise and advanced technology. Both entities are dedicated to providing outstanding value to their clientele, enabling them to flourish within the competitive African market.

Through the purchase of Turfsport, a firm with a substantial footprint in the African market, Softswiss is ready to considerably elevate its brand visibility and operational prowess within the region.

Andrey Starovoitov, joint CEO of Softswiss, emphasized the strategic significance of this acquisition, noting that securing a thriving local entity is the most effective method to enter developing markets. He conveyed enthusiasm about finalizing this long-anticipated agreement and stressed its importance as a major stride towards Softswiss’s growth in South Africa and the broader African continent. Starovoitov contends that Africa is poised to emerge as the next global center for expansion, mirroring the trajectory of Latin America.

He further elaborated that this acquisition delivers more than just market penetration; it brings invaluable technical knowledge that the Turfsport team has amassed over the preceding 35 years. This strategic maneuver by Softswiss coincides with heightened activity from other prominent contenders within the South African market. Light & Wonder, for example, entered the regulated iGaming sector in South Africa last December through a collaboration with the operator Hollywoodbets. Likewise, Optimove revealed a partnership with Amelco in October 2023, preparing for expansion within the South African market.
