A prominent online lead generation company, Catena Media, recently acquired PokerScout and its holdings for $3.5 million. PokerScout is the premier website for monitoring online poker activity, acting as an industry gauge. This calculated maneuver follows closely on the heels of Pennsylvania’s legalization of internet gambling, a market Catena is eager to penetrate.

They are not unfamiliar with the Pennsylvania landscape, already operating numerous media outlets there and possessing valuable US-targeted domain names. Furthermore, they have their sights set on the regulated online gaming sector in New Jersey.

Pennsylvania recently joined the online gambling trend, becoming the fourth US state to do so. Notably, they are permitting commercial casinos and their state lottery, already a lucrative enterprise, to participate.

Catena’s CEO, Henrik Persson Ekdahl, is understandably enthusiastic about the purchase, referring to PokerScout as the “foremost traffic generator” for the online poker realm. He views the Pennsylvania agreement as a transformative event and anticipates other states will follow their lead.

This development has been in the works for some time, representing a significant step as we aim to expand our footprint within the American market.”
