Nicolás Arreche, a South American tennis competitor, has been prohibited from the sport for a period of four years after being found guilty of manipulating the results of matches. Arreche, whose highest position in the rankings was 567, was discovered to have broken several regulations of the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program (TACP). He was also penalized $8,000.
Arreche was found to have attempted to influence the outcome of games between 2017 and 2019. He also neglected to report suspicious activity to the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA). The ITIA states that Arreche violated rules D.1.d and D.2.a.i of the TACP. These rules specify that players cannot control the results of matches and must report any attempts to influence them.
Arec has been prohibited from taking part in or being present at any tennis competition sanctioned or endorsed by any global tennis governing body or national organization, starting on April 24, 2021, until April 23, 2025.
The player from Argentina is the most recent athlete to be banned after the ITIA last month also prohibited Mexican tennis player Carlos Ramirez Uterman for a period of one year and ten months for acknowledging multiple charges of corruption.
Additionally, in December, the ITIA banned six Moroccan tennis players for breaking the TACP regulations.
