Colorados tax authority has announced a new high mark for sports wagering activity in December, but also a drop in overall gaming earnings.

The state witnessed a record $284.6 million in sports betting activity in December, a 21.3% increase from the prior month. However, total gaming revenue for the month reached $17.2 million, a 6.5% decrease from November.

After taking into account bonus promotions and other adjustments, as well as the federal tax, net sports betting income decreased by 43.3% to $5.1 million.

Online betting remains the main source of income for Colorados licensed operators. Internet betting revenue was $16.6 million, with a net sports betting income of $5.1 million. Bettors wagered $280.4 million online and won $263.9 million.
