Newcastle United has forged a fresh alliance with Fun88, an offshore wagering enterprise, targeting the Asian marketplace.
This new, long-term pact will see Fun88 bolster Newcastle United’s growth in Asia. This will encompass activities within the market, official club paraphernalia, and exclusive experiences for supporters.
“The team is appreciative of Fun88’s partnership over the past six seasons and anticipates continuing the collaboration in the upcoming seasons,” Newcastle United declared in a statement.
The Asian wagering and sports betting enterprise has been the club’s primary sponsor since the 2017-18 campaign, with the brand’s emblem prominently showcased on the front of the team’s uniforms.
Despite the company garnering most of its traffic from the Asian market, Fun88 is authorized to advertise in the UK through a white label permit from TGP Holdings.
In April, the Premier League consented to terminate betting sponsorships on the front of matchday jerseys. The prohibition on betting sponsorships will take effect at the conclusion of the 2025-26 season.
Although the agreement could persist until that date, Newcastle has reportedly negotiated an early departure from the Fun88 jersey deal, and the club is anticipated to unveil a new Middle Eastern jersey sponsor later this week.
The English top-flight league has made the decision to temporarily prohibit gambling sponsors from appearing on team jerseys. This determination comes before the unveiling of a government report on gambling regulations, which is anticipated to incorporate more stringent rules on gambling promotion.
