Betsson, 888, and Sisal are all vying for a chance to secure one of the seven online gambling permits in Buenos Aires. The final day to submit applications is tomorrow, June 25th.
Betsson, 888 (through their subsidiary Cassava Enterprises), and Sisal Entertainment from Italy have all collaborated with local businesses to obtain licenses. A total of fifteen companies are competing for these permits.
Betsson has formed a partnership with Victoria Casino, a land-based gambling establishment in Entre Rios province. 888 has joined forces with Boldt, a company involved in the land-based casino and lottery industry. Sisal has created a group with two local companies, Areltown and El Chalero.
These three companies are joining other international corporations that are also attempting to secure licenses. The Stars Group has reached an agreement with Atlantica de Juegos to obtain a permit, while William Hill will collaborate with ArgenBingo, and Flutter Entertainment will work with Bingo Pilar. Intralot has made a deal with BinBaires, and Playtech has partnered with Hotel Casino Tandil.
Bet365 has entered the Mexican online gaming market, joining forces with bingo operator Pasteko. Betway has partnered with Bingo King, while Codere has struck a deal with slot and bingo hall operator Iberargen.
Spanish operator Luckia has teamed up with Emprendimientos Crown, and BetCris has partnered with Impresora Internacional de Valores.
Only two local brands, Biyemas and Slots Machines, will operate autonomously, without international partners.
Potential licensees are vying for one of seven 15-year online gambling licenses, encompassing all product categories. Successful applicants will pay a license fee of 65 million Argentine pesos (EUR 1.3 million/USD 1.5 million), followed by a 25% tax on gross gambling revenue.
As the registration period concludes tomorrow (June 25) at 11 am Buenos Aires time, it remains to be seen whether other operators and suppliers will participate in the process.
